Zagreb, 08.02.2016.
Croatian journalists and publicists (HNIP) finds totally unacceptable and unfounded statement by the Simon Wiesenthal Center of February 6th 2016, while the title in which it is concluded that Croatian Minister Mr. Zlatko Hasanbegović is fascist – finds offensive and disgraceful.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center has been used for manipulation and continuation of ideological terror against the current Minister of Culture and attempt to “internationalize” the whole case of those groups which by his appointment and a true commitment to pluralism lose the right to ideological monopoly in the Croatian media. We remind You that Mr. Hasanbegović has significant scientific career at the Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, where haven’t been recorded not a single revisionist case regarding World War II.
If the statements, research papers and overall public activity lay in a real and fair context of time and the facts it is easy to conclude that the
Minister of Culture Mr. Hasanbegović does not deny the anti-fascism as one of the fundaments of building-up of the modern Croatian state, nor the audit of the past, which is first-class prank, now even from director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, but instructed by domestic anti-propagandists. We are obliged to inform the public that the director of the Center Mr. Efraim Zurrof is already known for controversial and unsubstantiated statements. Mr. Zurrof, for example, last year when he visited the Republic of Serbia denied the fact that during the Bosnian War in 1995 there was the Srebrenica genocide, although it was confirmed by the international courts. We invite the Simon Wiesenthal Center to withdraw the disputable statement, remove legally controversial title and apologize for arbitrary and harmful accusations on behalf of a Croatian Minister of Culture Mr. Zlatko Hasanbegović.
